Fraya vs. Wix for a small business that sells
What Wix does well, what it costs to sell on it, where the two are alike, where Fraya is different, and who should pick which.

Wix is a flexible drag-and-drop website builder with a large app market: you design the pages and run the marketing yourself. What each one is for
- Wix: a general-purpose site builder. Drag anything anywhere, choose from hundreds of templates, and add features from the Wix App Market. Stores, bookings, events, and blogs all live on the same platform.
- Fraya: a design-first commerce OS for one-person and small businesses. Describe the business; she designs the site in your industry’s look, connects your Stripe, and runs campaigns, cart recovery, review requests, and a weekly check of what AI assistants say about you.
Price, plainly
Wix’s plans that can sell online are Core at $29 a month, Business at $39, and Business Elite at $159, as Wix publishes them for yearly billing in September 2026. Wix shows monthly-billed prices only at checkout, and they are higher. Wix Payments charges 2.9% plus 30 cents on a US card payment. We found no Wix commission on sales beyond processing. Wix’s own pages are the source of truth; these numbers move.
Fraya: free to publish and sell, with 1% on sales, plus Stripe’s card processing (2.9% plus 30 cents on a US card). The Fraya Plan is $29 a month, billed monthly. Fraya Studio is $99 a month.
At $1,000 a month in sales
Take twenty orders of $50. On Wix Core, that is the $29 plan plus about $35 in card processing: roughly $64 a month. On Fraya’s free plan it is $10 in platform fee plus the same $35 in processing: roughly $45. On the Fraya Plan, add $29: roughly $74, with the weekly operating work included.
At this size the fees are close. Choose on fit, not on the bill.
Where they are alike
Wix documents that its pages are server-rendered, so search engines and AI crawlers receive real HTML. Fraya’s pages are too, with structured data for products, events, reviews, and FAQs. Readability by crawlers is not the reason to choose between them.
Where Fraya is different
- The site is designed for you. You edit words and images in a form, and the design holds. There is no blank canvas to fill.
- The weekly work is done: Monday drafts, campaigns on schedule, abandoned carts chased, and review requests after delivery, each waiting for your yes.
- Each week Fraya asks AI assistants real buyer questions about your kind of business and reports whether they mention you.
- Payments go straight to your own Stripe account. Fraya never holds funds.
Where Wix is the right choice
- You want to place every element yourself, or you have already picked a Wix template you love.
- You depend on an app that lives in the Wix App Market.
- You need a larger catalog, multiple languages, or team roles and permissions on the site.
- You would rather use a mature platform than a beta. Fraya is real and takes real payments, but access comes in waves.
Moving over
Fraya imports Shopify and Etsy stores directly. Wix is not on that list yet, so a Wix catalog moves by hand; for a small shop that is an afternoon. Your domain moves by changing DNS, and nothing on Wix has to be deleted first.

Is Wix or Fraya cheaper?
For a small shop the difference is a few dollars either way. Wix Core is $29 a month on yearly billing plus card processing. Fraya is free plus 1% on sales and card processing, or $29 a month on the Fraya Plan. Wix has no percentage fee, so at higher sales volume its flat price can come out ahead of Fraya’s free plan.
Can AI assistants read a Wix site?
Wix says its pages are server-rendered, so crawlers receive the content as HTML. What matters next is structured data, answer-first writing, and consistent business details, which you can add on either platform.
Does Fraya have a drag-and-drop editor?
No, on purpose. Fraya designs the site and keeps the design intact; you edit content in forms. If arranging the page yourself is the part you enjoy, Wix is the better fit.
Can I move from Wix to Fraya?
Yes. Products move by hand today, since direct import covers Shopify and Etsy. The domain moves by changing DNS on the Fraya Plan.
